Of Matter and Motion…

Look up, up at the Sky, toward the Moon, look at the Stars and beyond.

For this exhibition Adam David Brown considers our humble footing on planet Earth as a vantage point to look up and wonder. From a particle of dust suspended in a sunbeam, to the orbiting planets and stars, it is evident that everything is in motion.

Motion and circulation; objects such as books and currency circulate through human systems of exchange. While the Moon, Planet Earth and the Solar System circulate in their own, intricate, natural orbits.

Brown presents a perfect blue sky marked with a white jet trail. Streaking across the sky, the air-born trace makes visual the fleeting nature of the passage of time.

Celestial maps, pin-pointing specific moments in time and space, seem to acknowledge our smallness and obscurity within what Carl Sagan refers to as, “a vast cosmic arena”.

Everything is in motion, from the local to cosmic.
