For her second solo exhibition at MKG127, Angelopoulos constructs an installation of collage, drawing and sculpture with architectural components influenced by La Muralla Roja—a vibrantly coloured housing complex located on the coast of Spain. The works within the exhibition evoke a sense of optimism and vitality through vivid colorations and buoyant gestures. Through the titles Angelopoulos invites subjective identification with the viewer, touching on themes of endurance and perseverance. The simple gestures in The Collective seem to radiate beyond their physicality—unified with a potent energy of neon and reflective chrome.

Jaime Angelopoulos received her MFA from York University (2010), BFA from NSCAD (2005) and also studied at Meadows School of the Arts in Dallas, TX (2006-07). She was awarded the Hazelton Sculpture Prize in 2013 and has participated in artist residencies at KulttuuriKauppila Art Centre (Finland) and the Banff Centre (Alberta). Solo exhibitions include at the Musée Régional de Rimouski (Quebec), YYZ Artist Outlet (Toronto), Cambridge Galleries (Ontario) and upcoming exhibitions at the McLaren Art Center, Barrie and the Thames Art Gallery, Chatham (Ontario). She has presented two-person exhibitions, The Ruin in The Refuge is the Hole (Finland) and Awkward Dimensions at LVL3 Gallery (Chicago). Recent group exhibitions include Material Girls (tour includes Regina, Toronto, Saskatoon and Calgary), the CAFKA.16 Biennale, Kitchener, Out Of Line at Oakville Galleries (Ontario) and trans/FORM at MOCCA (Toronto). Her works are held in numerous corporate, institutional and private collections throughout Canada and the United States.
