In The Shape of Things, repeated forms bump up against each other, overlap, and undulate, jostling for position in works perched precariously between order and unpredictability, precision and imperfection. As a former textile designer, Walker used exacting systems of repetition to organize elements into patterns where precision was key. Her work as an artist often refers back to her prior practice, both quoting and challenging its underlying assumptions. Joy Walker is a Montréal born, Toronto-based artist whose work takes the form of sculpture, video, drawing and printmaking.
