Line by Line – MKG127

For the past 10 years, Joy Walker’s work has centered on the use of line manipulations to explore the relationship between seeing and sense-making. The works in Line by Line represent the artist’s interest in how simple shifts of angled and overlaid lines transform perception – creating a dissonance between the actual and perceived materiality of the surface.

Joy Walker is a Montreal born, Toronto-based artist whose work takes the form of sculpture, video, drawing and printmaking. Her approach is guided by intuition and is marked by a strong interest in process, materiality and play. She has exhibited across the country and internationally with recent exhibitions in Toronto, St. Catharines, Cambridge, Montreal, Winnipeg, Regina, Halifax, New York, Chicago and Miami. Her work is held in numerous private collections and in the corporate collections of Bank of Montreal and TD Bank. Most recently Walker’s work appeared in the form of an artist’s project in the monograph Who is Afraid of Purple, Orange and Green?, published by blackdog publishing, London, U.K.
