“The title of this exhibition, Chanced, was suggested to me by a friend as we were walking towards a restaurant for lunch. As chance would have it, we were discussing the title just as a piece of blue-and-white polka-dot tissue paper appeared on the sidewalk in front of us. I had to stop and take a photo. I decided that the photo would become the image on the postcard for this exhibition. Most of the works in the exhibition are the result of similar occurrences — chance encounters with workaday objects and materials that revealed their potential through minimal manipulation and happenstance.”
